Order Questions

1. How do I go about ordering?
Star Foundation offers three convenient ways for you to name a star for someone:

1. Online through our secure shopping cart (accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express credit cards)
2. Mail or fax - see instructions
3. Call 949-955-2646 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. PST Monday through Friday

We do not process COD orders. All orders are processed only after payment has been received.

2. When will my order ship and how long will it take to arrive?
All orders will ship within 48-72 hours from the time the order was received. Orders received on Friday, Saturday or Sunday will ship on the following Monday.

For Standard delivery, please allow 5-7 business days for order fulfillment and shipping of your Star Naming Package. Express is 3-5 business days. Please allow 10-14 business days for International order fulfillment and shipping. Orders are fulfilled only when payment is received.

3. Can I make a change to my certificate after I have ordered?
Yes, you can. The fee for any changes after your order has been submitted is $15.00. To make changes to your order you must send us an e-mail. In your e-mail please include the order number, and requested changes.

4. Do you offer a guarantee on the Name a Star Program?
The Name a Star Package is backed by a 30-day money back guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, please mail it back and we will refund your money, minus the cost of shipping.

Star Naming Questions

1. Are there any rules for naming a star after someone?
No. You are allowed to name a Star after anything or anyone, including pets.

2. Can I choose the constellation I would like my star named?
Unfortunately, because of the way our star database assigns star names, you cannot choose the constellation you would like your star named.

3. Is the Star Foundation the only organization that can name stars?
The Star Foundation's products are intended for the sole purpose as a unique "novelty" gift one can share with their friends and family. Only the International Astronomical Union has the authority to assign names to stars, but they only recognize stars by assigning them numbers. The Star Foundation internally recognizes and acknowledges the names it assigns to stars in the Star Foundation Archives and will never name a Star more than once. The Star Foundation also acknowledges the fact there may be people who do not officially recognize the names they assign to the stars. We have no control over any other entity operating a similar service or the business of any scientific, governmental or other body.

1. What is the difference between the Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate Star Gazer Packages?
The Standard Star package is $39.95 plus shipping. This package comes with a two pocket folder and includes your Star certificate on copper parchment paper and 7 pages of informative literature about astronomy. Plus, our Signature Medallion which you can wear on your shirt or jacket.

The Deluxe Star package is $67.95 plus shipping. This package includes all of the items in the Standard Package listed above. Plus, a wooden plaque with beveled edges and an acrylic cover to frame your certificate. (basic assembly is required)

The Ultimate Star Gazer package is $97.95 plus shipping. The Ultimate package includes the same folder, informative literature, Star certificate with frame (basic assembly is required), and medallion from the Deluxe Package listed above.

The additional feature included with the Ultimate Package is the First Light Astronomy Kit. The kit features a uniquely designed low-distortion planisphere, the book, Exploring the Night Sky with Binoculars, Sky Atlas for Small Telescopes and Binoculars, a three-year planet locator, a three-year daily moon phase calendar, a reference card on comets, a table of the best meteor showers, and an observing log master page to be duplicated to start a well-organized observing logbook. Your kit will come beautifully packaged in a 9 X 12 heavy-duty two-pocket folder to be saved and used for organizing and protecting your astronomy materials.

2. What is the Memorial Star Medallion?
The Memorial Star Medallion is 3/4 of an inch in actual size and can be worn in remembrance of your loved one. The medallion is in the shape of a star and is creatively engraved with a dove inside of a heart.

3. Can I order additional Signature Medallions?
Yes, you can. The cost of each additional Signature Medallion is $4.95 plus shipping.

Charity Questions

1. The charity that I would like a portion of the proceeds given to is not listed on your website.
Unfortunately, we only give a portion of the proceeds to the charity partners listed on our website. We have marketing agreements with these charitable organizations and they work very hard to promote us to their supporters. It is only fair that they benefit from our unique program.

2. I think my charity organization would like to get involved with the Star Foundation. What can I do?
If you know of an organization that needs help with their fundraising efforts we would love to talk to them about our unique partnership opportunity. Send us an e-mail and include the name of the organization and any contact information you may have.

3. How does the Star Foundation determine the percentage that goes to its Charity Partners?
The percentage that goes to our Charity Partners is determined by the percentage of advertising dollars that were spent to acquire a Star order. We have designated 25% of each Star order's proceeds to go towards advertising. If an order originates directly from our website or Charity Partners website we pay the Charity Partner the entire 25% of the Star proceeds. If an order originates from one of our marketing campaigns, we pay the Charity Partner 25% of the Star proceeds minus the cost of the marketing campaign. Our marketing campaign cost are always varying, therefore the amount we pay our Charity Partners also varies.
